Background InformationOriginally this was known as Haslingden County Court. According to Kelly's 1913 Directory, Haslingden was the head of a county court district which included Accrington, Church, Oswaldtwistle and Clayton-le-Moors as well as Haslingden. The registers in this collection suggest that meetings were held at both Haslingden and Accrington from the late 19th century and that gradually Accrington business came to predominate. By 1924 (Kelly's) Accrington was in a separate district while Haslingden was now part of Rawtenstall district (see CYRA).
