In 1955 Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Preston, and a competition was held to find the best street decorations. Our collection includes photographs of the prize winning streets, including these decorations at Thomas St.
Five Nights and early film censorship

Five Nights and early film censorship

In 1915 a case was heard concerning the film the Five Nights, which would result in the decision that Local Authorities could ban a film which had previously been passed by the BBFC. The film was subsequently lost, but this case file from Preston Council includes detailed plot summaries with set photographs as well as two frames from the film itself.
