DescriptionUnder Standing Orders of the House of Commons, first made in 1792, "a map or plan of such intended cut, canal, aqueduct or navigation, with a book of reference, shall be deposited for public inspection at the office of the Clerk of the Peace of every county, before the llth of November previous to the application to Parliament." In due course other types of public utility were included in the provision. The following list gives the date of the earliest deposited plan in each class. It should be noted that some of the schemes never came to fruition:
